Out is a projection installation with an integrated augmented reality (AR) experience about the complexities of being a queer Filipina woman. Through 2D/3D animation and sound design, participants are immersed into three stories. These stories, “Coming Out,” “Snarky Comment,” and “First Love,” explore familial and queer relationships, homophobia, love, and acceptance. The last piece, “A Queer World Imagined,” invites visitors to interact with a utopic city in AR. By challenging productive power and heteronormativity in a selection of stories, Out celebrates the 2SLGBTQQIA+ community by providing a form of BIPOC queer representation in an immersive artwork.
