âhâsiw okiskinwahamâkêw / “A Crow’s Teachings” was inspired by the need to preserve
my family. The film attempts to connect Indigenous ways of knowing into meaningful
connections with the outside world. Through abstraction, we explore what can be shared
and what remains beyond understanding between parent and child. By centering
Indigenous language and storytelling, âhâsiw okiskinwahamâkêw invites audiences to
consider the unseen bonds that connect us through time, transformation and the
mysteries that exist between worlds.
